Veekay fibre optic patch cords are one of the most commonly used components of the fibre optic network. These are used wherever device interconnection or fibre drop is required. Patch cords may be broadly classified as per fibre type / count & connector type / count. Further sub-classification may be on basis of usage (indoor / outdoor / harsh environment certified), cable ( diameter 0.9 / 2.0 / 3.0 / 4.8 / 8.2 mm), armouring & finally customized cable assemblies
Some common connector types are detailed below:
FC connectors are the most commonly used patch cords in fibre optic networks where FC stands for fixed connectors. It is fixed by way of threaded barrel housing.
FEATURES
SPECIFICATION
SC connectors are commonly used patch cords due to good durability and low cost. The push pull design of the connectors is ideal for limited space requirement.
FEATURES
SPECIFICATION
ST connector is a quick release bayonet style connector with a long spring loaded ferrule which holds the fibre. ST connectors are cylindrical with twist lock coupling, push-in and twist type. ST patch cords are used in multimode networks.
FEATURES
SPECIFICATION
LC connectors are a popular small factor patch cord which reduces space and are widely used for dense installation. The LC connector has a push and latch structure for making connections. It has high precision thermoplastic housing and accurate 1.25 mm ceramic ferrule.
FEATURES
SPECIFICATION
MU connector is a small form factor of SC connector having same pull and push design. MU
connector has a 1.25 mm ferrule. MU Patch cords have high optical performance and are widely
used for dense installation.
FEATURES
SPECIFICATION
MT-RJ connector features two fibre connection i.e. two optical fibre connections within one MT-RJ
connector. There are male and female type MT-RJ fibre optic patch cords, male type connector has 2
pins on each connector whereas female type has corresponding receptacles.
FEATURES
SPECIFICATION
E2000 connector has a structure similar to that of SC connector but has a smaller footprint with
shutter closing. The spring loaded shutter protects the ferrule from dust and scratches.
FEATURES
SPECIFICATION
Armoured patch cord retain all the features of standard fibre patch cords, but are much stronger. Its
construction includes stainless steel tube or corrugated Aluminum tubing inside, which protects the
optical fibre and provides better security. Although armoured fibre cables are strong, some variants
are actually as flexible as standard fibre optic patch cords and can be bent without damaging the
fibre.
Armoured fibre patch cords can be made of similar outer diameter as the standard fibre patch cords.
They can be with different jacket colors and jacket types such as HDPE /OFNR/ LSZH and others.
